1. Introduction
Zitrine Kern Applications (“we”, “us” or “our”) publishes NeuroWean, a mobile application being developed to help people understand their smoking patterns, recognise urges, practise delaying responses and reflect on their recovery progress.
We respect your privacy and are committed to handling personal information responsibly and transparently.
This Privacy Policy explains the information NeuroWean may process, how that information is used and stored, when it may be shared, and the choices available to you.
The information processed depends on the features you use, the platform on which you access NeuroWean and the version of the application installed on your device. We will update this policy when changes to the application or its data practices make an update necessary.
2. Information NeuroWean processes
Depending on your use of the application, NeuroWean may process the following categories of information.
2.1 Profile and smoking-plan information
The application may process information you provide during onboarding or when configuring your recovery plan, including:
- Your smoking baseline and usual smoking frequency.
- Your smoking history and relevant plan settings.
- Your recovery start date and goal settings.
- Information used to personalise your smoking-reduction or recovery plan.
2.2 Smoking and behavioural information
To support its tracking and recovery features, NeuroWean may record:
- Smoking events and their dates and times.
- Urges or cravings that you choose to log.
- Craving intensity and related details you enter.
- Behavioral events, including recorded responses to urges and delay activities.
- Goals, calibration records and progress through the recovery process.
2.3 Calculated recovery information
NeuroWean may calculate and store information derived from your recorded activity, including recovery summaries, behavioral patterns, progress indicators, intervention responses, milestones and other app-generated scores or estimates.
These calculations are intended to support self-awareness and behaviour change. They are not a medical diagnosis and should not be treated as a clinically validated assessment unless the relevant validation has been established and expressly communicated by the publisher.
2.4 Home-screen widget information
If you use the NeuroWean home-screen widget, the application may save a snapshot of selected information needed to display its features. Depending on the widget configuration, this may include smoking or urge metrics, recovery status, progress values and action labels.
Widget information may be visible to anyone who can see your device's home screen. Its visibility when your device is locked depends on your operating system, launcher and device settings.
2.5 Technical information
The application and its software dependencies may process technical information needed to operate the application or communicate with external services.
The exact technical information collected or transmitted by a released version of NeuroWean, including information processed by third-party software components, depends on the final application and its configuration. Relevant data flows will be reviewed before public release.
3. How we use information
NeuroWean processes information for purposes associated with providing its features, including:
- Recording smoking activity and behavioural events.
- Calculating recovery progress and behavioural summaries.
- Personalising goals and displaying recovery information.
- Supporting urge-management and delay interactions.
- Displaying relevant information in the application and home-screen widget.
- Maintaining application functionality and investigating technical problems, where applicable.
Information will not be used for an additional purpose inconsistent with this policy without an appropriate legal basis or choice, where required by applicable law.
4. Where information is stored
The reviewed NeuroWean source code uses local storage mechanisms, including Hive and SharedPreferences, to retain application records and settings. The home-screen widget also uses locally stored information to display its content.
Some smoking, craving, behavioural and recovery information is therefore stored on your device.
Local storage does not, by itself, establish that information is encrypted, excluded from device backups or inaccessible to other software with appropriate device-level access. You should protect your device with suitable security settings and consider what information is displayed by your home-screen widget.
Storage, backup, restoration and deletion behaviour may depend on the application version and operating system. We will not make specific claims about encryption, backups or other technical protections unless they have been verified for the released application.
5. External services and third parties
NeuroWean may rely on operating-system functionality, application-store services and software components supplied by third parties.
The source review identified a Google Fonts dependency that may request font resources from Google's delivery infrastructure when the required font is not available locally or in the application's cache. Such a request may expose technical request information to the relevant service provider. The review did not establish that smoking or recovery records are included in that font request.
The source review did not establish every data flow that may arise from the final application, its dependencies, operating-system services or application-store integrations.
Before release, we will review the services enabled in the distributed application and update this policy to describe relevant providers, their purposes and the information they receive.
We will not claim that the application never transmits information or never shares information with third parties unless that statement has been verified for the released application.
6. Payments and subscriptions
NeuroWean may offer paid features or subscriptions.
Where payments are enabled, transactions may be handled through the application store from which you obtain the application. The information handled by the store may differ from the transaction information made available to NeuroWean or its publisher.
The production purchase flow and the information received by the publisher must be confirmed for each released platform. Before paid functionality is offered, this section will be updated to identify the applicable payment provider and explain the relevant transaction information.
7. Data sharing and disclosure
We do not intend to sell your personal information.
Information may be processed or disclosed where necessary for a purpose described in this policy, where you direct or authorise a disclosure, or where disclosure is required or permitted by applicable law.
Any service providers or other recipients involved in operating the released application will be identified in this policy where appropriate. Their access to information, processing purposes and applicable safeguards will be assessed before the relevant integrations are released.
The source review did not establish an app-managed backend API, analytics integration or crash-reporting integration in the inspected code. This is a limited source finding, not a guarantee that no information is transmitted by the final application or its dependencies.
8. Data retention and deletion
NeuroWean stores certain information locally on your device. How long information remains available may depend on the application's storage and deletion behaviour, your actions, device settings, operating-system backups or restoration, and the version of the application you use.
The source review did not establish a complete, coordinated process for deleting every category of NeuroWean information, including all widget copies and backup-related data.
Before this policy is finalised, we will establish the applicable retention periods or criteria and verify the practical effects of clearing application data, uninstalling the application, changing devices and restoring backups.
We will not promise that uninstalling the application or submitting a deletion request automatically removes every copy of information unless that outcome has been verified.
9. Your privacy choices and rights
Depending on where you live and the laws applicable to the processing of your information, you may have rights to request access to, correction of or deletion of personal information, or to exercise other available privacy choices.
You may also have choices about the information you enter into the application and whether to use particular features.
To ask a privacy question or make a request concerning your information, contact us using the details in Section 12.
We will review requests in accordance with applicable law and explain any relevant limitations. Before publication, we will establish the procedures needed to verify requests, respond to them and carry out applicable access, correction or deletion requests.
10. Age Restrictions and Children's Privacy
NeuroWean is intended exclusively for adults aged 18 and older. Its smoking-related behavioural-support and behaviour-change features are designed for an adult audience. The App is not designed, marketed or intended for individuals under the age of 18.
We recognise that some people begin smoking during their teenage years and may seek information or support to understand their smoking habits. We do not intend to dismiss their experiences or the importance of preventing and addressing smoking at an early age. However, this recognition does not mean that NeuroWean is available or intended for use by minors.
NeuroWean does not require users to create an account. However, access to and use of the App is intended only for individuals aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly seek to collect personal information from individuals under 18 for the purpose of providing access to the App.
If we become aware that personal information relating to an individual under 18 has been collected through the App, we will take appropriate steps to address the situation, including restricting access where appropriate and handling or deleting the information in accordance with applicable data protection laws.
Anyone under 18 who is concerned about smoking is encouraged to seek support from a trusted adult or qualified healthcare professional.
11. International availability
NeuroWean is being developed with the intention of supporting users in multiple international markets. Availability may vary by country or region, application-store distribution settings, platform requirements and applicable law.
The application includes currency options intended to support regional pricing, including:
- Indian rupees (INR) — India.
- US dollars (USD) — the United States and other markets where USD pricing is offered.
- Euros (EUR) — relevant euro-using markets.
- Chinese yuan (CNY) — China.
- Indonesian rupiah (IDR) — Indonesia.
- Russian roubles (RUB) — Russia.
- Bangladeshi taka (BDT) — Bangladesh.
- Japanese yen (JPY) — Japan.
Currency support does not necessarily mean that NeuroWean is available in every country using that currency. Actual availability will depend on the distribution settings and applicable requirements for each market.
Where privacy laws differ between countries or regions, we will apply the requirements relevant to the processing of information and the users concerned. This policy will be updated as necessary when the intended markets and applicable obligations are confirmed.
